Former Barrie Colts forward and son of the late Dale Hawerchuk has recently signed with Östersund IK in the HockeyEttan league (Sweeden)
The second new acquisition to present is none other than Ben Hawerchuk. Ben has five seasons behind him in one of the absolute best junior leagues in the world where he represented the Barrie Colts and also was the assistant team captain for the club. Last season, Ben played in the Canadian college league USports where he accounted for 8 points in 13 games and was also noted for 14 games in the ECHL club Brampton Beast. By the way, does the surname Hawerchuk sound familiar? Ben is the son of NHL legend Dale Hawerchuk who has almost 1200 games in the world's best league.
Hawerchuk began last season in the ECHL with the Brampton Beast before joining the University of New Brunswick for the second half of their season.
Welcome to UNB Hockey @BHawerchuk!
