Tonight the Barrie Colts head to the Sudbury Community Arena to face the Sudbury Wolves for the fifth of eight meetings this regular season. The Wolves lead the season series 3-1 but the last game saw Barrie take a dominating 8-2 victory at Barrie Molson Centre. Colts had one of their best games of the season that night generating 45 shots on goal, going 3 for 5 with the man advantage and winning the majority of faceoffs. They also did a great job of keeping the Wolves off the board on all 4 man advantages. Zachary Magwood had an incredible night putting up 2 goals and 3 assists. Girodano Finoro also had a good game scoring a goal and getting two assists while going 11 for 17 in the faceoff circle. Lucas Chiodo also had a strong game putting up a goal and an assist as well. Christian Propp got the start for the Colts and made 33 saves on 35 shots faced. He was very solid for Barrie in that game.
Sudbury is coming off a 6-5 win last night over North Bay. Though they were out shot by a good margin and were trailing 3-1 after the first period, they did a solid job of playing catch up and pulling off a good character win against a team who has been playing well as of late. David Levin scored a pair of goals and got an assist while Dmitry Sokolov would earn 2 goals himself. The Wolves have gotten 5 of 5 possible points over the last 3 games and will look to carry that into tonight's game against Barrie. They hope to get the win tonight. You know, so we don't bring out our "crying wolf' GIF again.
Barrie put up a solid effort against the Soo last night and ended up forcing overtime but they were unable to leave the game with 2 points. Barrie managed to go 1 for 5 on the PP and generated 35 shots on goal and won almost half the draws. Anthony Stefano got 2 assists and the second was an incredible set up on the late Magwood goal which forced Overtime. It would be Zachary Senyshyn who caused trouble for the Colts scoring all 4 goals for the Greyhounds. Justin Murray had a great night scoring a goal and adding an assist while Finoro struggled going -3 on the night and losing Senushyn along the boards which resulted in the OT winner. He has been so great that these things happen and there is no doubt he will bounce back. David Ovsjannikov got the start for the Colts and made 33 saves on 37 shots faced. He made some incredible saves.
Keys to Success: Colts need to play similar to how they did last time against the Wolves. Be sure to generate lots of shots and make them pay when you get man advantages. If they can do this and stay disciplined there is no reason they can't get the W today. I would also expect Christian Propp to get the start tonight with his success last meeting and Ovsjannikov started last night.
Players to Watch: I would expect Giordano Finoro to have a strong bounce back game after struggling in last nights game. He has 9 points already this season which has already beaten his total of 8 all of last season. I expect that he will come out strong and likely be more aggressive.
Puck drop is set for 7:00 tonight.
