Last night the Barrie Colts managed to come back late to force overtime where they would end up stealing Game 2 over North Bay. The 3-2 win would see the Colts take a 2-0 series lead over the Troops headed back to North Bay.

First Period:

North Bay came out really hard in the period. They played with a much greater sense of urgency than in the series opener. They were really moving their legs well and it seemed as if the small break did them a lot of good. The Troops generated a lot of shots on Mackenzie Blackwood but it would be Mike Amadio who would get on the board first to give the Troops a 1-0 lead 13:16 into the period. Mathew Santos earned an assist on the goal.

Mackenzie Blackwood didn't have enough time to say 'Mike Amadio' before, well Mike Amadio scored again 29 seconds after his first goal. Colella and Santos both credited with assists. The goal was Amadio's 11th of the playoffs.

At this point the Colts were not looking to hot. The Troops were just being allowed to skate the puck into their zone and just move the puck around. Amadio was really flying and the Colts were not doing much to stop him. The managed to calm the Troops a little as the period wound down.

The period would end with Barrie trailing 2-0. Shots were tied 10 a piece and North Bay was able to kill the one penalty in the period.

Second Period:

Colts tried to build some momentum early in the period but Carbonara would take a roughing call just before the 4 minute mark. Barrie would kill that one off as Blackwood was able to steer the 3 shots on goal aside.

After the penalty kill the Colts had new life getting 7 shots on Jake Smith over the next 5 minutes until Justin Scott would get his 12th goal of the playoffs at 10:48. Labanc with a really nice assist and Webster earned a secondary assist on the goal. Troops lead cut in half at 2-1.

Colts would generate more chances on goal but were unable to tie it up before the end of the 2nd. Much better period for the Colts outshooting North Bay 13-9.

Third Period:

Again, the Troops came out hard in the final period of regulation getting 4 quick shots off and drawing a high sticking penalty to Justin Scott. There was no blood so it was just a 2 minute minor, but I could hear the smack of the stick hitting the Troops face. Not pretty. Colts back to the penalty kill.

Again the Troops were able to get 3 shots on the power play but were unable to score. All the shots taken were low since Blackwood was just kicking them all aside. Clearly following the first couple goals the Troops were sticking to their original game plan.

A very back and forth game all period but at the 17:43 mark it would be Anthony Stefano who would tie the game up on a weird goal that originally hit the post, but a scramble in front of Jake Smith resulted with the puck crossing the line. Colts tie the game 2-2. James and Goetz both with assists.

The period would end tied at 2 and we would need overtime to decide a winner. Troops had the edge in shots 15-12.

OVERTIME:

Troops came out early getting a couple chances but Justin Scott would be the hero again scoring 2:35 in on the Colts first shot of overtime for the win. Mangiapane and Labanc both with assists and the Colts would take a 2-0 win on the series!

Notes:

- Blackwood made 34 saves on 36 shots faced.
- Labanc and Scott both with 2 points each.
- Great game for other Colts. Goetz was great all game and was skating hard and taking the body. Also, Finoro was excellent getting 6 shots and he almost had a goal.
- Colts were 0 for 2 on the PP and killed off all 3 penalties.

Game 3 is tonight in North Bay. Colts hope to extend their series lead to 3-0. Puck drop is set for just after 7:00!
