Last night the Barrie Colts dominated the Belleville Bulls by a score of 8-2 in front of a home crowd at BMC.
First Period: The Colts came out hard in the first period. Despite Blackwood allowing 2 goals on 4 shots in the period, his team was able to put up 3 and from there on Blackwood was lights out.
Garrett Hooey would score first for the Colts at 5:58 on the power play. The goal was Hooey's 2nd of the playoffs and both Webster and Blandisi were credited with assists on the goal. Over the next 7 minutes of play the Bulls would score 2 goals but that would be it for their point production.
At 17:54 Trent Fox would take a roughing call that saw the Colts on the power play. At 19:01 Joseph Blandisi tied up the game and registered his first goal of these playoffs and tied the game at 2. Both Mangiapane and Hooey would get assists on the goal.
Back on the power play, 24 seconds later Ben Harpur would score on a wrist shot from the point to give the Colts a 3-2. Both Webster and Scott would get assists on the goal.
That would be it for the first period. Colts with a 3-2 lead. They out shot the Bulls 17-4. The team cam out a lot stronger than they did in game 1. Not only did the go 3-3 on the power play in the first (compared to 0-4 in the last game) but they also almost doubled their chances and shots in the first period of the previous game.
Second Period: Belleville came out stronger in the second but were unable to capitalize at all.
At 12:15 Cordell James would score his first Playoff goal on the power play (for those counting, that is 4 PP goals) with assists to Harpur and Scott.
The Colts would strike one more time in the second period (on even strength) when Joseph Blandisi did a pretty nice play to break into the front of the net to get his second of the night. Jonny Laser would be credited with the assist.
After 2 periods the Colts had a 5-2 lead. They out shot Belleville 10-9 in the period. Though, Belleville had some looks and played a tighter game they were unable to score on Mackenzie Blackwood who was seeing EVERYTHING.
Third Period: Just under 8 minutes in Roy Radke would score his first playoff goal. You could see he was hungry for one after previously driving the puck to the net and then managing to regain control of the puck to score. His goal was unassisted. Colts would take a 6-2 lead.
The Colts would strike one more time when Andrew Mangiapane would get his first of the playoffs with assists to Blandisi and Andersson.
Colts win 8-2.
Barrie dominated this game. They were getting pucks to the net and making it difficult for Belleville to get anything on Blackwood who also had a great night after allowing 2 goals on 4 shots in the first period.
