Owen Sound is back in
Barrie tonight for their fourth meeting of six this season. Barrie has won 2 of the 3 meetings so far and it can be noted that the one loss was when
Blackwood was hurt and the team hit a rough patch. That only needs to be mentioned if you are the type to make excuses though.. WHICH WE ARE NOT ABOVE!
The Attack are coming off of a huge 5-4 overtime win over
Erie on
Valentines day. Despite being heavily out shot 41-23 the Attack managed to get a huge win over a strong Otter team. Owen Sound goaltender Michael McNiven had an incredible game to keep his team in it and the teams power play unit going 2 for 4 on the PP was a huge hand in the win. Owen Sound sits 6th place in the Western Conference and while trying to gain some much needed points they also have the chance to play spoiler to many teams in search of very important points this late in the season.
Barrie also won their last game which was also on
Valentines Day against Saginaw 6-4. They out shot the Spirit 42-23 despite taking 9 minor penalties in the game. The Colts managed to kill off all of them but one.
Andrew Mangiapane had a strong night getting 4 points (1G;3A) while captain
Joseph Blandisi would get a goal and a couple assists. Colts defenseman Brandon Prophet would get the games winning goal which was his second goal of the season.
Keys to Success: A huge reason Owen Sound won over Erie was how strong they were on the power play. The Colts took 9 penalties in their game against Saginaw. They cannot give the Spirit that many chances or they will lose tonight. Discipline has been a huge problem for the team this season and they will really need to stay out of the box.
Players to Watch: Blandisi is currently riding a 5 game point streak. In those games he has 11 points (6G;5A). Also Mangiapane who is coming off a 4 point night and defenseman
Andersson who has been incredible for the Colts.
The Colts are also riding a 7 game win streak which they look to continue tonight. Puck drop is set for 7:30 at BMC.
