DEL Polar Bears sign Colts Alumni Mathias Niederberger

Yesterday it was announced that former Barrie Colt goaltender Mathias Niederberger has been signed by the DEL Polar Bears in Berlin.

Niederberger spent last season playing with the Manchester Monarchs of the AHL and the Ontario Reign of the ECHL. 

The Duesseldorf, Germany native spent two seasons as the starting goalie for the Barrie Colts (2011-12 and 2012-13 seasons). In 105 games in a Colts uniform he had 56 wins and 7 shutouts. 

In the 2012-13 season he helped lead the team to the OHL finals. Though the team couldn't win, he finished the playoffs with a 2.60 GAA and .921 SVS%.
